Diving in Halmahera is truly exceptional. The island's reefs are in immaculate condition, offering a kaleidoscope of coral formations and a wide variety of marine species. You'll encounter everything from schooling barracudas and eagle rays to rare critters like the flamboyant cuttlefish and mimic octopus. Famous dive sites such as Bacan Island and the Goraici Islands boast clear waters with visibility often exceeding 25 meters (82 feet) and minimal current, making it accessible for divers of all experience levels. The rich biodiversity and thriving reefs create a mesmerizing underwater experience, with surprises around every corner.

For those who prefer to stay above the water, Halmahera offers stunning landscapes and a rich cultural heritage. The island's volcanic peaks and lush forests provide excellent opportunities for hiking and birdwatching, while traditional villages offer a glimpse into the unique culture of the local people. The best time to visit is during the dry season from October to April, when the weather is warm and stable, with water temperatures ranging from 28°C to 31°C (82°F to 88°F). A 3mm wetsuit is recommended for diving in these comfortable conditions.
