Encounter majestic manta rays in pristine waters

Information about Mawan

Mawan, located in the heart of Komodo National Park, is a diver’s paradise renowned for its encounters with manta rays. This dive site offers an idyllic underwater landscape with its sandy bottom, coral bommies, and gently sloping reefs. Known as "Manta Alley," Mawan is a cleaning station where manta rays gather to have parasites removed by cleaner fish, providing divers with breathtaking, close-up encounters.

Mawan’s waters are teeming with life beyond the majestic mantas. Divers can expect to see a variety of marine species including reef sharks, trevally, and an array of colorful reef fish. The site is suitable for divers of all levels, with depths ranging from 5 to 25 meters (16 to 82 feet) and typically mild currents. The visibility is excellent, often exceeding 20 meters (66 feet), making it a fantastic spot for underwater photography.

For non-divers, the surrounding area of Komodo National Park offers spectacular snorkeling opportunities, hiking trails to spot the famous Komodo dragons, and pristine beaches to relax on. Mawan is a must-visit for anyone looking to experience the vibrant marine biodiversity of Komodo.
